In a press statement signed by its media and publicity secretary, Mr Emma Powerful, IPOB said it was not interested in the so called ‘national cake’. The group said it wondered why elders in the mold of Obasanjo could not tell the truth about the injustices faced by Igbos in Nigeria.

Following her visit to see the leader of the IPOB, Katrin Gaensles, a foreign journalist has visited the site where weapons used by Biafran soldiers were displayed. The Deutsche journalist and writer was taken around Owerri, Imo state to observe the weapons. Her tour guide was Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, Prince Meme. North Korea fires 'Scud missile' into Sea of Japan

North Korea has fired what appears to be a short-range Scud missile off its east coast, South Korea's military has said. The missile was launched from around the eastern North Korean coastal town of Wonsan, the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement. It flew about 280 miles (450km) before landing in the sea in Japan's exclusive maritime economic zone. There were no immediate reports of damage to planes or vessels in the area. Japan's chief cabinet secretary, Yoshihide Suga, said the launch was "a clear violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions". Merkel: Europe 'can no longer rely on allies' after Trump and Brexit

Europe can no longer "completely depend" on the US and UK following the election of President Trump and Brexit, German Chancellor Angela Merkel says. UMUAHIA – THE leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has commended the leadership and members of Ohaneze Youths Council for their steadfastness and faith in the struggle to achieve the Republic of Biafra and urged them to keep the spirit on. Kanu who spoke Sunday at his Afaraukwu Umuahia North Council home, when a delegation of Ohaneze Youth Council, OYC, led by the President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro paid him a solidarity visit, praised the President of OYC for his leadership and support for the cause of Biafra even in the face of persecution by the past leaders of the parent body, Ohaneze Ndigbo.       …Abuja court gives DSS nod courts of coordinate jurisdiction, yesterday, gave contradictory rulings on Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and Gas Ltd, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah. While a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting at Jabi granted the Department of State Services, DSS, the nod to hold him for another 14 days, a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos  ordered the DSS to release him within 48 hours. Ifeanyi Ubah Justice Yusuf Halilu extended the detention order following an ex-parte application the DSS filed through its lawyer, Mr. G.O.A. Agbadua. The agency said it filed the application considering that an earlier order the court  granted it on May 10, elapsed on Wednesday. Parents and relatives of students immediately thronged the school in panic to ascertain the identities of those that were abducted and to withdraw their children and wards. Relatives of staff and students of the school were seen in state of confusion as the school authorities were yet to reveal the identity of those kidnapped. By the time of going to press last night, the kidnappers were yet to establish contact with either the school or the parents of the abducted students. The suicide bomber who brought carnage to the Manchester Arena has been named as Salman Abedi. Monday night's attack at a concert by US pop star Ariana Grande left 22 people dead, including an eight-year-old girl, and dozens injured. Theresa May raised Britain's terror threat level from severe to critical and said the military could be deployed to support armed police officers at public events. Abedi, believed to have been born in Manchester and of Libyan descent, studied business at Salford University but dropped out before completing his degree.
