Skill acquisition: Delta trains 47 youths in tiling, POP design ASABA—Delta State Government has distributed starter packs to 47 youths trained on tiling and POP design under its Skill Training and Entrepreneur Programme, STEP, to kick off their own businesses. Items presented to the tilers include non-repayable Fireman Sumec Generator 2900, filing machine, manual tile cutter, pinches eight inches amongst other tools, a micro-credit of N120,000 and N10,000 monthly stipends for three months. The POP trainees each got one filing machine, one generator, Fireman Sumec 2900, one cutting machine, hand saw, 18 inches range, big plum, screwing pan, big hammer and other tools in addition to micro- credit of N120,000 and N10,000 monthly stipends for three months. Presenting the starter packs to the beneficiaries in Asaba, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa restated his administration’s commitment to youths empowerment through the various entrepreneurship initiatives. Okowa, who was represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mrs. Mary Iyasere, told the STEP graduates to remain focused in their determination to make a good living for themselves. Earlier, the state Chief Job Creation Officer, Prof. Eric Eboh, said that 25 beneficiaries were trained on POP design while 22 persons were trained on tilling, urging the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of the state so as to justify the purpose for which the programme was established.
